Food and TV Show Premiere Pairings

September 14, 2018

You’ve heard of food and wine pairings, but what about food and TV show pairings? We’ll explain…

Do you ever crave the iconic dishes from your favorite shows? Does watching “Twin Peaks” inspire your search for the best cherry pie or “Parks and Recreation” make you want to order all the waffles from JJ’s Diner?

As new shows and returning favorites premiere in the coming weeks, you’re going to need new go-to foods that fit your go-to program. We’ve created a guide to the perfect food and beer pairings for some of this season’s most anticipated Fall premieres.

Which show are you looking forward to the most?

BoJack Horseman

(Premieres Friday, September 14 on Netflix)

Your favorite animated hot mess returns to Netflix, and unlike the other weekly shows on this list, you can watch the debauchery unfold all at once! Order up a wood-fired pizza from Bobarino’s Pizzeria, the official food of binge-watchers, and channel your inner Mr. PeanutButter with a Peanut Butter Porter.

Big Bang Theory

(Premieres Monday, September 24 at 8pm on CBS)

Pull a Dr. Sheldon Cooper and order your favorite takeout to enjoy on your favorite couch.

The final season of Big Bang Theory is (finally) here! Order up the Smoked Burnt Ends & Pork Ramen and an unbelievable amount of smoked meat by the pound at Gilly’s Smokehouse to recreate the takeout nights in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment. Grab that bottle of Spooky Action IPA from BOB’s Brewery, inspired by Albert Einstein’s “spooky action in a distance” paradox (explained eloquently here), and toast to the end of this physics- and comic books-based series.

This Is Us

(Premieres on Tuesday, September 25 at 9pm on NBC)

Pasta, the perfect dish for eating you feelings (based on personal experience)

Are you ready for another rollercoaster season filled with tears? Indulge in something that makes you feel warm and whole, like the Randall to your Beth. Sip on a Power of Love shandy by Short’s Brewing Company and enjoy a Vegetable Linguini from Rose’s on Reeds Lake, a dish that allows This Is Us fans to eat their feelings without the guilt! A much better dinner solution than another slow-cooker meal…

Admit it - those cartoon burger look pretty good, but this looks even better!

Bob’s Burgers

(Premieres Sunday, September 30 at 8:30pm on Fox)

Alright! Bob’s Burgers is back with more shenanigans and Burgers of the Day! Dive into a Bob Belcher-approved Lake Monster Burger from Bostwick Lake Inn. Pair it with a Ain’t No Sunshine When Saison from Odd Side Ales not only for the flavor, but also for the art of the pun. We bet it’s an even better pairing than Bob’s burgers with Teddy’s “Bucket Brews”.

Walking Dead

(Premieres on Sunday, October 7 at 9pm on AMC)

That feeling when you binge-watched a whole season of your favorite show…

That feeling when you binge-watched a whole season of your favorite show…

Finding dinner inspiration amidst the cannibalism and walker scenes seems like an impossible task, but hear us out! We couldn’t believe that Eugene went Vegan (or did he go Negan?), but what does it matter? The next zombie horde will be sauntering right by as you enjoy a delicious meat-free Ancho Cabbage Steak from Gilly’s Smokehouse. Pair it with a Flesh & Blood IPA from Dogfish Head Brewery to help dull the pain of losing another one of your favorite characters.

Riverdale

(Premieres on Wednesday, October 10 at 8pm on CW)

When Blue Water isn’t making unique dishes with garden-fresh ingredients, they’re perfecting classics like the reuben and French dip sandwiches.

Riverdale is known for two things: drama and milkshakes. While the characters are devoted to Pop’s Diner, we recommend the elevated diner classics like A Classic Reuben or the BWG Deluxe Burger from Blue Water Grill. Pair with the grown-up approach to the classic Pop’s milkshake, Milkshake Stout by Rochester Mills Brewing Co. Get all the delicious foods from the show without the deception and murder.
